MerCs range of Protection Class Current Transformers are designed for Accuracy. The design permits non-contact current measurements through magnetic field induction.
This range generally provide signals to protective relays to enable correct operation under steady state and transient conditions.
More Details
MerCs range of Protect Class current transformers are designed for fast and accurate sensing of electrical currents. The design permits non-contact current measurements through magnetic field induction. This range and style generally provide signals to protective relays to enable correct operation under steady state and transient conditions.
Current Transformers are used in low voltage electrical networks to help sense and monitor the Electrical Current in main electrical supply. Current Transformers are used in conjunction with Energy meters and relays to help monitor and record Electric energy use and/or the condition of electrical circuits.
Mercs Range of protection Class CTs have a high accuracy (Class 0.5) over a wide dynamic range with excellent phase shift. These Protection Class CTs are ideal for fitting into Switchboards, where a high level of confidence in using the right CT with the right protection Relay is required.
Applications include;
- Current and power measurement for electric motors, lighting, air compressor, heating and ventilation system, air-condition equipment and Automation - control system
- Current, power, load surveys and energy monitoring device.
- Relay protection device demand metering, energy research, and sub-metering.

Protection CT Accuracy Class
Protection current transformers are defined as either 5P or 10P.? For each of these types the current error, phase displacement error and accuracy limit factors are defined.
Class | Current Error | Displacement Error | Accuracy Limit Factor |
5P | ? 1% | ? 60 minutes | 5 |
10P | ? 3% | - | 10 |
Class 'P' current transformers are generally used for overcurrent protection applications.? For more demanding applications, additional specifications may be required.
